We do not think the statute in this case, about the ringing of the bell, (Code 1906 § 4045) applies only to cases of actual col
[588] lisions at crossings. It was intended to- apply to all cases of injury at crossings directly traceable to the failure to ring the bell, etc., as the proximate cause of the injury. On the evidence, we think this was a proper case for punitive damages.
The judgment is affirmed.
